This is a wonderful image from a time long lost – a young man posing proudly in his uniform for work – possibly his first job!
He is wearing his cap with a badge, you can see the same initials on his collars as they would have also been on the buttons. You can just see the silver chain of his pocket watch.
The photographer’s details are embossed in gold along the bottom:
“J T Wilkinson 43 Market St. Manchester”.
The badge must be for Manchester Corporation Transport or something similar.
There are some number hastily scribbled on the back in ink that look to be an order or reference number 14 605.
This wonderful piece of history measures 16cm x 11cm and is in very good condition as shown.
