We have been dealing antiques for over thirty years and have handled hundreds of antique Middle East brass items but this is the only one that we have seen that has BOTH Arabic AND Hebrew inscriptions on it.
Although this at first appears to be your typical, hand-made/hammered Persian vase from the turn of the century (1890-1900), on closer inspection there is a remarkable feature: a band of Hebrew script around the upper section matched with a band of Arabic inscription around the widest point.
Between these two bands of inscription are four images/roundels.
This type of work was referred to as Qalam Zani as they tell a story.
There is an image of three pyramids that is repeated between an image of what appears to be a man running in foliage.
We are not sure what the inscriptions translate to or what the original use of this wonderful vase was but it is a RARE and unusual work of art in very good condition as shown.
It stands just 6 inches tall and is 3 inches at the widest section.
