Description
A pair of Arts & Crafts reclining armchairs by Shapland & Petter c1900 made of oak. A known design by Shapland & Petter, retailed through Liberty of London and illustrated in the Shapland & Petter archive. There are a few versions, these chairs having 3 adjustable positions, with a movable rod to adjust the angle of the backrest. Turned tapering spindles beneath curved armrests, turned legs and stands on brass castors. Each chair has two loose cushions which have been fully upholstered with replacement foam to meet with fire regulations, and covered in a good quality William Morris “Bramble’ fabric. In good condition, all joints are tight.
