Dated 1816 and later. A pair of Carey’s 12-inch terrestrial and celestial floor globes on later stands, each with 12 gores meridian rings and brass horizontal rings, the celestial globes cartouche inscribed Carey’s new celestial globe on which 3500 stars selected from the most accurate observations and calculated for the year 1800. Made and sold by ‘JW Carey, The Strand, London’ dated January 1st 1816. The terrestrial globe’s cartouche is inscribed ‘Carey’s new terrestrial globe, from the best authorities, made in London by G & J Carey, 86 St James Street, January 4th 1844’. Both resting on later mahogany stands with umbrella-style tripod bases.
