MAURICE BRIARD (1881-1957) Large Oil on canvasMaurice Briard 1881-1957 A beautiful and large signed french oil from around 1920 depicting a long-haired nude girl sleeping on a sheepskin rug. The work is inscribed verso “La Sieste”. The painting is large and impressive and in excellent condition and ready to hang. This fine painting will make a superb addition to any collection of fine nude studies.

Maurice Briard studied under Gérôme and exhibited from 1924 onwards at the Salon des Artistes Français, of which he became a member, and at the Salon des Artistes Indépendants. His paintings are often of sleeping women.
