Description

Merchant Naval Clipper “Panay”, a three mast vessel flying the Red Ensign in full sail cutting through choppy seas.

The painting is a good detailed example which accurately depicts all the rigging with flags.

While the majority of the clipper ships sailed under the British and American flags, more than a hundred clippers were built in the Netherlands.
These ships were medium-clippers rather than the large extreme-clippers and were involved in the merchant trading of goods between continents often carrying tea and other consumable commodities.

The painting is on wooden panel and bears the signature C.Morgan.

Presented in a good solid hand crafted oak frame with gold coloured inner slip.
