HENRI JACQUES DELPY Oil on panel (1877 – 1957)
A beautiful signed oil by the highly collected French Barbizon painter Henri Jacques Delpy, the son of Hippolyte Camille Delpy. The work is depicting a typical river landscape with a figure fishing at Notre Dame De L’Isle near Vernon on the River Eure . A superb painting in very good condition. The painting dates to around 1920.

Jacques Henri Delpy studied under his father Hippolyte-Camille Delpy. He painted forest interiors under dull skies and sunsets conveying a sense of melancholy. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français, of which he was a member, and at the Salon des Artistes Indépendants.
