A very well made Arts & Crafts solid oak settle by Gillows & Co of Lancaster and London. Exceptional carving of foliate and flower design to the seven front panels, and dated 1888. A lift up seat with useful storage below, along with the registration number and Gillows & Co makers mark. The seat and backrest has been newly and fully upholstered with new padding to meet with fire regulations and covered in a good quality William Morris fabric.
This seven panel Gillows settle is the largest of the two options made. The smaller version has five panels which we have had previously.
In good condition, no breaks or repairs.
