Description

Lovely Georgian tea bowl from about 1790 in the chinoiserie style (Pattern 20) made in Staffordshire by the New Hall factory. The New Hall factory was in operation between 1781 and 1835 producing tea ware decorated in floral and chinoiserie styles

Pattern 20 – main charming tableau depicts a figure, presumably a lady, holding a parasol being offered a flower from another figure, presumably a gentleman, holding a windmill. Nicely decorated in a rich palette of magenta, blue, yellow, green and iron red. Pattern 20 was very popular and so was much copied by other factories of the period.

Very nice condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. Some fading to decoration to the inside of the bowl, wear to the foot rim and some kiln grit commonly found on English ceramics of this period.

Dimensions: Height: 2″ (5.1cms) Width of bowl: 3 3/8″ (8.5cms)
