Georgian Mahogany Secretaire SAI4050

A fine Georgian mahogany secretaire of elegant proportions, offered in excellent antique condition and complete with a working key. This handsome piece separates into two sections, making it practical to move and position within the home. The upper cabinet is crowned with a decorative moulded cornice and fitted with a pair of beautifully inlaid doors with oval panels, opening to reveal an adjustable shelved interior. The base features three drawers, with the top drawer opening as a fall‑front to reveal a green baize writing surface and an interior fitted with small drawers and pigeonholes — a lovely display of the refined craftsmanship and decorative detail characteristic of the period. Below sit two full‑width drawers with their original brass handles and central keyholes, offering generous additional storage. The mahogany has developed a warm, even patina with attractive grain and colour throughout. As with all antique furniture, minor age‑related marks are present, but the secretaire remains solid, well cared for, and wonderfully functional. A distinguished and versatile piece that brings both practicality and Georgian.
