French ,Ormolou, Clock of large proportions.

This superb French clock has a cast brass case and is adorned by two bronze cherubs or cupids. It is signed on the dial and the back plate, Barreau de bronzes, Paris. Barreau was a leading Parisian sculptor of bronzes, and probably designed and made the case as well as the bronze cherubs. The clock movement is by Japy Freres and has his name on the backplate. The 8 day movement has outside count wheel striking and a silk suspension pendulum. Very good condition. Movement has been cleaned and fully serviced. c1870
