Description
A fine French marquetry side cabinet, presented in excellent antique condition and topped by a beautiful rouge marble top with moulded edge. The cabinet is exquisitely decorated throughout with intricate floral and foliate marquetry in contrasting fruitwoods against an ebonised ground, displaying the high level of craftsmanship associated with fine French furniture.
The single door is centred by an elaborate marquetry panel depicting an overflowing urn of flowers surrounded by scrolling foliage and floral reserves. Opening to reveal a shelved interior, the cabinet offers useful storage.
Above the door is a frieze drawer decorated with further floral marquetry, while an additional concealed drawer is cleverly incorporated into the base, providing discreet storage. The shaped sides are equally adorned with matching marquetry detail, demonstrating the quality of work throughout.
Combining practical storage with outstanding decorative appeal, this elegant cabinet is a superb example of French cabinetmaking and would make a striking addition to any hallway, drawing room, dining room or bedroom.
