French 18th‑Century Commode / Chest of Drawers SAI4227

A beautifully made French commode dating to the 18th century, crafted in walnut and enriched with finely executed parquetry veneers. The top is laid with a geometric parquetry panel and framed by a well‑defined shaped edge that echoes the inlay work on the sides.
The three generous drawers run smoothly and retain their original gilt‑bronze escutcheons and handles, each cast with elegant period detail. The interior is clean and well kept, while the back shows honest age with early boards and wear entirely consistent with its 18th‑century origins. There are traces of historical woodworm — long inactive and fully treated — mentioned only for accuracy.
A wonderfully decorative and practical piece, offering excellent storage and a rich, glowing patina developed over centuries.
