Early 19th Century Carved Teak Archway, Hindu, Buddhist Temple Doorway This piece has been removed intact and with very little damage to the carvings, it is made in Teak and is profusely and intricately carved with many wonderful symbols, mythical birds and animals, flowers and deities The archway has the most elaborate carving at the top even beneath the lintel there is a carved decoration, and it is carried down both sides The doorway comes apart and can be fitted back together with wedges, it could be used to line a doorway or it would make a magnificent frame for a mirror or window It is heavy and in generally good condition, not perfect obviously but a wonderful piece When assembled the overall frame is 95” tall, 58” wide and 12” deep, the interior opening is 72” high and 37” wide. The uprights are 5”wide SH57 Manufacture Date : 1800 Materials : Teak
