Description
Delightful Presentation Box from Pahlavi Royal Family c1920
A wonderful quality Persian box with a domed top, veneered in burr walnut.
The Persian Royal Family were known to hand out these rather extravagant boxes containing cigars to senior ministers / military officers.
There is a small brass plaque at the centre of the slightly domed lid depicting the Pahlavi Dynasty Crown. A rectangular plaque on the inside of the lid contains a Farsi inscription that states the cigars are made by the Persian Imperial Tobacco Company.
The interior has been refitted as a jewellery box as these often were.
There is a similar box with a different interior on sale on another site for £875 (link available on request).
In amazing, good original condition.
This box measures 13in x 10in
