This is an amazing work of art that is around 100 years old.
This is NOT a GuanYin but a Bijin – a Japanese beautiful woman is is shown carrying a basket, some type of tambourine and a baby on her back. On the back there is a single character mark as shown.
The detail on her face is wonderful as is the face of her baby.
Her eyes are closed – an air of serenity or despair?
She is very TALL – standing at 40cm with the base or 34cm without the base.
We have not been able to find anything similar and this is a very attractive work of art in amazing condition.
