Beautiful ancient Islamic child’s bronze ring with Kufic benediction
This is a wonderful and rare ancient ring with a simple single word benediction for protection.
It would have been worn by a child from a high status family as jewellery was not something the wider population would have been able to afford.
The wealthiest in society would wear gold and silver jewellery while the rest would wear bronze and copper rings.
For every one hundred ancient Islamic rings, you might only find one that has an inscription that is legible. Therefore, this is quite a rare find.
It is a simple yet elegant shape and design with the bezel given a diamond/lozenge shape and the inscription incised beautifully onto the surface.
The ancient Kufic inscription reads: “Al Khalid“ which means “The Creator“ which is a beautifully appropriate protective benediction for a baby or young child.
Please note that just the bezel (face) of this ring has been professionally cleaned and stabilised. We are able to professionally clean the rest of the ring if you require it.
There is a tiny, minor ancient loss on the band which is commensurate with age and does not detract from the desirability of this rare and beautiful ring.
The inner diameter is 12mm and the outer diameter is just 15mm.
This ring is guaranteed to be at least one thousand years old.
