Description
Air Ministry captains desk chair made of oak c1930’s. A good wide and deep seat, broad arms and a design feature for these chairs being the bulbous turned legs. These captains chairs were used within the RAF offices and can be seen on many of the photographs of wartime stations. It was supplied by the crown for Military and Civil Servant use and is stamped with the makers name William Hands & Sons and dated 1931 along with the kings crown and GVI marks. Newly and fully upholstered seat pad (which is removable) with new padding and webbing to meet with fire regulations and covered in red leather. In good condition, the frame is sound, there is old repair to one of the stretchers but still very solid with all joints tight.
