A handsome 19th-century camphor wood campaign secretaire chest in excellent antique condition and retaining a wonderful rich colour and patina throughout. Crafted from beautifully figured camphor wood, the chest is fitted with recessed brass military-style handles and a practical arrangement of drawers.
The upper section is configured with four short drawers surrounding a central secretaire drawer. Opening to reveal a fitted interior with pigeonholes, small drawers and a writing surface, it provides an excellent workspace for correspondence and organisation while remaining discreetly concealed when closed.
Below are three long graduated drawers offering generous storage, all constructed in the traditional manner expected of quality campaign furniture. The fragrant camphor wood displays striking grain patterns and warm golden-brown tones, adding considerable decorative appeal.
