A striking 19th‑century Burmese carved table, richly detailed and in excellent antique condition. The circular top is framed by an intricate band of hand‑carved foliate and geometric motifs, each element crisply cut around a smooth central panel, with a finely scalloped outer edge. The carving is sharp and confident throughout, reflecting both the skill of the maker and the quality of the timber.
The base is a dramatic sculptural composition of intertwined serpents — a hallmark of Burmese carving — their bodies coiling and looping to form the support. Textured scales, defined musculature and expressive open‑mouthed heads give the piece a sense of movement and mythic energy. The serpents rise and twist with real sculptural presence, making the table as much an artwork as a functional object.
