Description
Presenting an iconic and highly sought-after piece of WWII militaria: an Waffen-SS Totenkopf (Skull and Crossbones) cap badge. This example is a classic late-war production variant, exhibiting all the hallmarks of authentic period manufacturing.
Material & Patina: Struck in zinc (Zamak), the badge displays the characteristic, appealing grey-brown patina associated with late-war wartime production. The obverse features a superbly detailed skull with distinct teeth, nasal cavity, and eye sockets, retaining sharp features despite its age.
The reverse is fitted with flat metal attachment prongs, a known and well-documented configuration utilized by prominent late-war manufacturers.
Importantly, this piece remains unmarked. As the war progressed and resources dwindled in 1944–1945, RZM marking was frequently omitted by manufacturers due to time and material constraints. Therefore, the absence of a maker’s mark is entirely correct and expected for this specific late-war type.
Original condition: Good
