Description
A highly significant and exceptionally rare WWII German Luftwaffe navigational timepiece (Beobachtungsuhr), featuring the highly desirable Type B (Baumuster B) dial configuration. Manufactured by the elusive maker H.H. Robertson, this watch represents a unique and scarcely encountered variant among standard Luftwaffe-issued B-Uhren.
The watch is defined by its iconic Type B dial, meticulously designed for rapid legibility in the cockpit: a large outer track for minutes (5–55) and a distinct inner ring for hours (1–12). It retains its correct oversized “onion” crown, designed to be operated by aircrew wearing heavy gloves, and is fitted to a period-style leather strap.
The reverse securely screws down and features period engravings. The watch is powered by a robust, manually wound movement with a classic gilt finish, clearly visible through the open case back, displaying the high-grade engineering expected of wartime aviation instruments.
