The upper section features a shaped frieze with foliate carving and three compartments, the central door studded with initials — a charming personal touch that hints at its original household. Below sit two drawers with turned wooden knobs, and a pair of panelled cupboard doors offering generous storage.
The oak has developed a deep, mellow patina over centuries of use, with the carved details and studwork. Solid, substantial and full of period presence, this is a fine example of early oak furniture — both decorative and immensely practical.
