19th‑Century Oak & Elm Windsor Armchair SAI4222

A lovely early 19th‑century Windsor armchair in oak and elm, displaying all the hallmarks of traditional country craftsmanship. The hooped back is set with finely turned spindles and centred by an attractive pierced splat, shaped with gentle curves that adds a touch of elegance to the otherwise rustic form. The arms sweep gracefully forward and are supported by well‑turned under‑arm spindles.
The generously shaped elm saddle seat shows beautiful grain and warm colouring, while the chair stands on turned legs united by an H‑stretcher, giving it excellent stability. The whole piece remains firm and structurally sound.
